Jammu, Sep 01 (KNO): Following a recent safety audit that declared the 65-year-old Government Hospital building in Gandhinagar, Jammu, unsafe, the patients and their belongings from B Block have been shifted to the adjoining 200-bedded Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Hospital in Gandhinagar. The decision was made to ensure the well-being of patients, attendants, doctors, paramedics and administrative staff, as the hospital caters to thousands daily. Dr. Pardeep Mahotra, Media Incharge, J&K BJP, commended the Health and Medical Education Department, the Principal of Government Medical College, Jammu, and the Health Directorate for their prompt response. He stated, “In such crucial institutions, where human lives rely on timely treatment, infrastructure safety and quality healthcare facilities cannot be compromised under any circumstance.” Mahotra urged the administration to expedite the transition to the MCH building to maintain uninterrupted medical services, especially given the forecast of heavy rains in Jammu. The Government Hospital Gandhinagar, a key healthcare facility in Jammu, serves patients from both urban and rural areas, with 200 sanctioned beds (160 functional) and handles approximately 1,300–1,400 patients daily. The shift to the MCH building aims to ensure a safe and efficient environment for critical healthcare services—(KNO)
